Update….

January 25, 2017: It’s been six years since this blog was born, and we’ve all grown and changed immensely in that time. The blog has been a valuable part of our family heritage, sharing and preserving our tried and true recipes and adventures, as well as giving us the opportunity to try out some new foods and treats, and to share it all with you. Here are a couple of recent photos of me and of us. What a difference from six years ago!

This is me, now! Half-way through my forties with three active teens and tweens to keep me busy and lots of work writing!

This is us. In 2015 we traveled all over the country as a family for five weeks. If you'd like to read all about it, visit the #crosscountryadventure2015 page on the blog!

A blog is born….

August 25, 2011: I am a married mom of three daughters. As I start this blog in September 2011, my oldest daughter is about to be twelve. My second daughter is nine and my “baby” is exactly six and one half years old. I’m forty. How did all of that happen so quickly?

This is me…

I absolutely love baking and I love dessert, especially chocolate chips. I put them in anything I can when I’m baking, and when I can’t, I eat them right out of the bag.

This wine glass that I received for my 40th birthday this summer really says it all.

I am a four-time award winning freelance newspaper reporter and photographer for our local paper, having won three New England Press Association awards and one Rhode Island Press Association award. I cover all things education, having been an elementary educator in my past life. I am the author of two books, “Baby Notes: Practical Wisdom From One Mother to Another,” and “I’ll Always Be There.”

This is my awesome family!

After much consideration and deliberation, I’ve decided to enter the world of “mom blogging.” In the past I have had several blogs: one for crafting, one for my newspaper articles, and one for our family recipes. I’ve finally decided to have just one blog where I can share it all. In other words….the whole bag of chips…the sweet, not the salty….a little morsel for everyone. It has been my goal for many months now, to start this blog when my kids went back to school this year, all of them in school all day for the first time ever, and here I am!

It is my hope and my goal that I will be able to share everything here: highlights from my work with the paper, experiences I have as a mother, a wife, an author. I can share recipes and crafts and hopefully you will find something that you can use or something that will make you laugh.

    Hey Jen,
I’m here after reading Sue’s email about your Black-bottomed cupcakes. It made me think of an Almond-Apricot cookie bar my grandma used to make that I had years later after i moved to RI at a friend of my M-i-L’s….
    Can’t wait to read more!!!

      Hi Stacey-
Thanks for visiting! I featured one of YOUR recipes during Superbowl Week! If you search Superbowl Week or Salsa in the search bar, you’ll find Stacey’s Salsa on the homemade salsa page. xo Jen
